, welcome back to Slice of Success podcast so good to have you.
I hope you had a good week.
Have you been busy, knee deep in flower and buttercream?
I know I have not necessarily buttercream, but ganache.
I've had a wedding cake this week, which was beautiful, as always.
Also got birthday cake this week, so's something a little bit different for me.
But yeah, no, it's been a busy, busy week.
So , if you listened last week, you'll know that we talked about how you don't need to post every single day to get cake orders.
And this week, I want to take that a step further, and I'm going to share three really common mistakes that I see cake makers making on social media , but also how you can fix them.
And it is perfect timing because my free workshop on making social media work for your cake business is happening next Monday.
So the 23rd of June .
So think of this, like a little sneak peek.
Okay, so let's go straight into it.
So stick number one. Captions that don't speak to your dream customers.
What are the biggest mistakes that I see?
Is writing captions that sound pretty, but say nothing, or worse, they just talk about yourself.
So, for example, I loved making this cake.
That's lovely for you , but your dream customer doesn't know why they should care.
The fact that you loved making the cake great, but what's that for them?
So how can you fix that?
So instead of something like a love make in this cake, next time, write your caption like you are talking directly to the person who you want to book.
So describe the cake, the flavours, the vibe, the occasion .
Put little details in there that makes someone think, "Oh, that's exactly what I want for my wedding, for my birthday, for my christening, whatever it might be."
Always ask, what do they need to know to get excited and to trust me?
Mistake number two, hiding behind the cake, basically just never showing you.
So I know, I know, putting your face on camera can feel really scary .
But people buy from people.
So when you never show your face, your dream customer doesn't build that connection with you, they just see the pretty cakes, which, you know, obviously they want to buy these pretty cakes, but they don't feel like they know the baker behind them.
So, you're going to start simple.
Put a photo of you working on a cake, put a quick story saying hi film a short reel, showing what your flavour Sorry, what flavour is inside the cake that you're making?
This builds trust and trust leads to bookings. Mistake number three, Having no clear what they call call to action.
So a call to action is essentially calling the viewer to take an action.
That's what call to action is.
So you've posted your beautiful cake, you've written your fantastic caption, but then what ?
If you don't tell people what to do next, they usually do nothing.
Always include a clear call to action.
DM me to order your wedding cake .
Save this idea for your future celebration.
Hit like if you loved this cake, Ask them to do something.
Without asking them to actually do something, they won't do anything .
So even just asking for a like comment atart if you love it, tell me, you know, what you thought about this cake, something.
One simple line can turn a silent follower into a paying customer and that is exactly what you wanted.
Okay, so this is a super, super short episode, but those are three quick fixes that you can start using today.
Write captions for your dream customer .
Show your face, even if it's just a little bit and always tell people what to do next.
And if you do want more help with this, then don't forget my free workshop next week, Monday, the 23rd of June.
