Well, hello, welcome back to a slice of Su success C Business talk.
Did you miss me?
Did you miss me last week?
You probably didn't even notice that I wasn't here.
But I did miss an episode last week.
It has been super crazy for me over the last month or so, and, you know, these things happen.
If we can't do something, then we can't do something, and that is what happened with me.
Unfortunately, I was not able to squeeze in the time to record a podcast, but I am back and raring to go .
So how did your week go?
I hope you had an amazing week.
I hope you've been busy with making cakes and doing all the things that you are trying to do to keep your .
What the your business, going?
So I hope it's been going really, really well.
And before I dive into this week's topic or this week's episode, I wanted to just share some things with you that's been going on in the Cake Business Academy and in the membership and share some wins that we've had because we need to celebrate the wins.
We need to celebrate all the little wins, the big wins, and everything in between, because once we celebrate them, it sinks in that we are actually achieving what we've set out to achieve .
So that's what I'm going to do today before we dive into the topic of this week's episode.
So this week inside the confident kick Collective membership, we've had a couple of amazing wins and I'm just so proud of everyone.
I really, really am.
So the first one, one of the members, she struggles with putting herself out there specifically, like, showing up on social media, like, as herself.
Like, she's great at posting all the pictures of her cakes and everything else, but putting her actual self out there is very difficult.
But she actually did a live on Instagram with a different with another sort of K account, and she did some demonstrating creating some lovely stuff live on Instagram.
And I was so proud because I completely understand how difficult that is.
You know, if you are afraid to even just show your face on social media, to go live and talk to a camera is a whole other level.
So I am super, super proud of her.
She's done amazing.
So that was the first one, and I think you can all agree that that is like a huge, huge win, huge win.
So definitely one to celebrate .
And the second one is from a different member of the membership.
So she has decided to branch out away from cakes, still doing the cakes, but create like a second kind of income, which I definitely, definitely 100% agree with.
Everybody should have at least two types of income.
I digress, but she has just opened her Etsy store, showcasing her beautiful sugarflowers and selling them for Cmakers.
So I'm going to pop the link to her Etsy store in this episode in the show notes of this episode.
So if you want to go and have a look, it has just opened so there aren't many on there, but she creates sugar flowers and she will post them to you and they are exquisite.
They are absolutely beautiful.
So if you wanted to go and have a look, I will just double check what that name is for her cake business, because it her sorry, her Etsy store is called Jackie Diamond Cakes .
That is the Etsy store, but I will put the link to that Etsy store.
So if you are in need of sugarflowers and you don't want to make them, now, she is based in the UK, so I'm assuming postage would just be to the UK for now , but she may expand.
So if you in the UK and you are in need of some sugar flowers, definitely go and have a look, because they're beautiful.
So, yeah, so an amazing win for her.
It's just been set up and just opened. And now she has the potential of a second income, aside from her cake.
So, yeah, super proud of both of these amazing members.
Now, every member in there has something to celebrate every single week.
NHS Week week are so happy.
So, yeah, very excited.
If you are interested in finding out more about the membership, there is also a link to the wait list inside the show notes.
You can join the wait list and basically that just means that you will get an email letting you know when the doors are going to be open again and then that will give you more information.
There's no, you know, if you join the wait list, it doesn't mean you're tied in to join.
It just means that you will get the information when it's open again, so you can be one of the first to know about it and then make a decision.
So , yeah, head to the waitlist.
L is in the description or head over to my Instagram, the cake Business Academy.
All the links are there in my Instagram bio as well.
So yes, go and have a look.
Okay, so I'm going to dive into today's episode, and it is one I know so many of you need.
Because if you've found yourself like stressing about your social media, about not posting enough or that you feel like all the effort that you put into social media just isn't paying off.
You are definitely not alone.
It can really feel like it's time consuming.
And especially when it feels like you're upputting in loads of work and you're just not getting the orders from it and it feels like a waste of time.
But the truth is, you really don't need to post every single day to get those bookings .
You need to post with purpose.
So in this episode, I'm going to walk you through exactly how to attract more cake orders through social media without posting every single day.
These are the strategies that I've used myself, and they've helped so many other cake makers who were in the same boat.
So let's get into it.
So part one, I'm going to split this down into parts.
So part one, the myth of daily posting.
So this is the biggest myth that I see across, well, everywhere, basically, is the idea that you have to post every single day to grow your business.
It's just not true.
It's just not true.
And I do get where this comes from.
This comes from .
We see all these big accounts posting daily or multiple times a day.
So that feels like that that should be the standard.
That's what you should be doing, because if these big, big accounts are doing it , then that's what you need to do.
But those accounts usually have a team behind them.
They're not doing it themselves, or they've been doing this for years .
You are one person, and your goal isn't to just grow followers.
It's to get bookings.
You know, posting every single day or multiple times a day might hope with visibility , but if those posts aren't targeted to your ideal customers, I've said it again, you need your ideal customers, it is not going to translate into sales.
More content does not always equal more customers.
It's not about the number of followers.
It's about who is following.
You know, you could post daily and still get no orders. Or you could post just two or three times a week with really well thought out content that speaks to your ideal customers, those dream customers, and you're going to start getting more DMs, more inquiries, and more bookings.
So I need you to remember this.
I need you to remember this.
You are not failing if you are not posting every single day.
The real win is posting intentionally.
Okay, so we're not going to focus on posting every single day.
It is not needed .
So part two.
So part one was we're not going to post every day.
Part two, we're going to focus on intentional content.
So what does that actually mean? .
Intentional content is content that speaks directly to your ideal customer.
It builds a connection with them, it builds trust with them, and it makes someone want to take that next step with you, i.e Booker cake .
So let me give you an example.
Say you post a beautiful photo of a wedding cake or a celebration cake, whatever it is that you do, you post a really lovely photo.
That's great.
But what is the caption saying?
That piece of text that you write when you put a picture on Instagram or Facebook, that piece of text that goes with it, that's the caption.
If it just says, loved making this one, you have missed a huge opportunity.
So instead, what if you said something like , "W, if it's a wedding cake, this three tier lemon and raspberry cake was created for this amazing couple.
They wanted something. Elegant, fresh, and floral, so we matched the sugar flowers to the bride's bouquet , you know, all of these descriptions that make that customer feel it.
Can you see how that shifts everything?
So instead of saying, I loved making this cake, you have just made somebody drool on their phone by describing what it is.
You are showing your style.
You are sharing the process, but you are also speaking directly to a future customer who wants, you know, a summer wedding cake and you've literally described it.
So if it was a celebration cake, instead of, "Oh, I love making this cake, it's this gorgeous pink birthday cake was created for the lovely Michelle for her ninth birthday.
She wanted something fun and young and perfect for a nine year old.
The flavours for her friends, you know, her favourite flavour is chocolate, so we made a lovely decadent chocolate cake. And it's covered with all of her favourite things that she loves.
That is.. Speaking to the next person who wants the same thing.
It is not just saying how much you loved the cake.
It is telling the next person this person had that, and you can have that, too.
Intentional content doesn't just show what you do.
It sells what you do without being salesy.
So I hope that makes sense.
So part three, time saving strategies for creating your content.
So I also think that, you know, a lot of people struggle ways how to manage content creation.
You know, we are cake makers first and foremost, so most of our time is spent on that, and we tend to think that the social media side should be pushed to the background .
But in reality, our social media side is what gets us the new orders.
So, really, that has to be a priority.
It can't just be a side thought or a last minute, "Oh, crap, I forgot to post something.
We have to be intentional."
So , how do we manage this?
Because, let's be honest, you don't have all day to sit and make content.
I get that.
But I'm going to give you three time saving strategies that I swear by.
Okay, so number one is batching your content.
Instead of trying to post every single day, which is exhausting, because every day you'll, oh, I need to think, I need to what do I need to post?
And then you get to 7 o'clock at night, you's like, "Oh, I didn't post today quickly, let me post something."
Don't do that."
So, instead of trying to post every single day, you want to block out an hour once a week.
You're gonna sit down and you're gonna plan your content.
Just one hour.
Whatever day of the week that is, Sundays I find are my quietest Sundays and Mondays tend to be the quietest days for me because most of my cakes are Fridays and Saturdays or even Sundays, but then I will do, you know, Sunday afternoon.
I'm completely free .
So Sundays and Mondays are my best days.
So I block out one hour and I will literally sit down and plan my content.
So I will choose, you know, however many times in that week I want to post, I will choose three roughly three to five, depending on what you want to do.
Photos or videos that you want to share that week and I' and I write the captions in that one hour.
So I would choose, for example, three photos or three videos or one video and two photos, and I will write the captions for them.
And then I go and I schedule them.
You can do that with so many different apps.
There's later, Plan or E, Meta's business Suite, Creator Stud.
You can even do it directly on Instagram.
So just, you know, if you't what I do on Instagram is I create them , and then I save it as a draft and then I just go and post it that day.
It's all written and I just have to press post.
But if you want to, like, have nothing to do, use the scheduler because they auto post for you.
And if you can get into this one habit, it really is going to free up so much time and mental energy for you.
And it's going to help you stake consistent.
So, batching your content is the first time saving strategy.
The second one is we're going to use templates.
So if you are staring at a blank screen, every single time you go to post, you need a template.
So simple as that.
So you can create a template or you can buy templates.
I have templates available for you.
Basically, a template, you want to, if you're going to create your own, you need to think of a few go-to formats.
So you'll have a format for a testimonial post, you'll have a format for a wedding cake or a birthday cake.
You'd have a format for three tips choosing, you know, like a carrousel or an introduction post.
All of these different formats, you want to create templates for, and then you can just go and tweak the text in them every time.
Not the best way, but it is a quicker way to do it.
The templates that I sell, it is social media captions for cake makers.
It is a template where's a PDF, essentially, that has over 150 captions for all types of cakes, and they give you so it's a template.
It's not something that you would just go to copy and paste.
You aren't going to copy and paste it.
But it's got sections in each caption that tells you what to write.
So it will say, for example, if I choose a wedding cake, that's the first thing that comes to my mind.
This beautiful cake, or this beautiful, and then in brackets, it will say, three tier cake or two tier cake.
So you would replace that section with what it is, that it's there, was created for the lovely couple, and then there'd be brackets where you could enter that couple's name , and it was delivered to this venue, and then you would enter the venue's name, and then it will give description of the cake and it will tell you what to write.
So it actually tells you what to write.
Most of it is written for you, but there are . Sections inside each caption, in brackets that says, right here, this fill in with this information.
And then you just overwrite those bracketed bits, and you copy the whole thing and post it into your Instagram.
It is so much, but there is over 150 in there, so that is social media captions, Cake makers , I will pop the link to that.
Also in the show notes, but you can go over to my Instagram, thecakebusiness Academy, head into my link in bio, and you can see it there.
So that's a real times saver, because it tells you what to write because I know that trying to think of something every time can be really, really difficult.
So that PDF has got it for you.
So every type of cake you can possibly think of, I think you can mix a match as well.
It doesn't have to be exactly right.
You can take one of the other ones and then just enter the information that you want to enter.
But the fact that it tells you what to write really does help you.
It saves you so much thinking time.
So, that's the second way to save time.
The third way to save time is to repurpose your best content.
So, some of your ideal customers have already found you.
But they haven't ordered, because they haven't seen everything you're capable of.
But what if you go back through your social media, go back through your Instagram, and you found a post that did really well, or at least better than most, from, say, six months ago or a year ago.
Don't be afraid to tweak it or reshare it.
You can turn an old caption into a reel, you know, go through the caption, make a new reel, use the same caption.
You can use the same text on a new photo .
You can share a testimonial again, just with a new graphic.
You can actually repost an old post.
You just press the repost button and it will post it again now.
That is smart marketing.
It's not lazy posting.
Because if something did well six months ago, all of your new customers, they won't have seen that because they won't have gone back through your order posts.
So we post it.
That's a great way to save time.
Okay, so part three was time saving, strategy is part four.
You don't need to be everywhere.
This is a big one.
You do not need to be on Instagram, on Facebook, on TikTok, on Pinterest, on LinkedIn, on WhatsApp, you don't need to do all of that because that is a really quick way to burn out.
Really quick.
If you are not sure where to show up, you need to ask yourself, where are your ideal customers hanging out and where do you actually enjoy spending time?
For most cake makers, Instagram is the best platform to focus on because it's visual.
It's local friendly, and it's also where, like, brides hang out and party planners, they all go there for inspiration.
So if Instagram is your main platform, give yourself permission to go all in on just that .
You can always expand later, but starting strong in one place is the best strategy.
If you're either customers or on Facebook, go all in on Facebook.
I don't teach anything other than Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest in one of my courses, but TikTok Linked in WhatsApp, for me, they don't work.
For me, they are just a way of getting followers and not actual orders.
So , you know, for local cake makers, TikTok's great, if you want to post things, but, like, through the post.
But for local customers, it's not as good.
So find the one that works the best for you.
And if that's TikTok amazing, but go all in on it, don't spread yourself out.
Okay, so has this episode made you just feel a little bit lighter?
Like, maybe social media doesn't have to be so overwhelming.
I do hope it has, and if it has, or even if it hasn't, to be honest, and you want a little bit more help, then I want to invite you to my free workshop.
So I've got a free workshop.
It's a one hour workshop.
It'll be on Monday, the 23rd of June .
It is basically going to help you make social media work for your cake business, even if you don't love social media.
It is completely free, one hour of your time.
It's really good for you if you are, you know, tired of posting and not getting the orders, if you are stuck for content ideas .
If you want to feel more confident showing up online, we are going to cover like what kind of content leads to bookings.
We're going to cover how to attract your ideal customers.
And I'm going to give you like a simple plan to make social media work for you, even if you are limited with time.
So I would love to see you there.
You can sign up to that workshop in the link in the show notes.
It is completely free.
I would love to see you there.
Again, you can also go over to my Instagram at thecake Business Academy and find the link on there.
It will be inside my bio .
So, yeah, thank you so much for spending this time with me today.
I really do hope this episode has helped you.
If it has, please share it with all the other cake makers that you know, and you know leave me a review.
Make sure you subscribe so you get when I next upload a podcast it usually is on a Tuesday unless, of course, I'm so, so busy.
But in, you know, we're on, this is episode 21, I think.
And I think I've missed one maybe two in 21 weeks.
So I'm doing okay.
I'm doing all right.
And then so, yeah, so hit the subscribe button.
And don't figure out.
Just because you're not posting every day, it doesn't mean that you're not making progress.
You are building something brilliant .
One little step at a time.
So I will speak to you next week.
And I hope to see your name down on the workshop attendees list.
So you have a wonderful week, everybody, and I will see you very soon.
