Now, let's be real, social media can feel really overwhelming, especially with all the conflicting advice out there.
You know, should you be focusing on getting more followers?
Should every post look perfect, or do you need to spend money on ads to see any growth and get those orders?
Well, today we're gonna cut through the noise.
We're gonna talk about two things.
Why consistency matters more than you think it does , and the biggest social media myths that might be holding your cake business back.
By the end of this episode, you are really gonna have some practical tips to simplify your strategy and you'll be able to focus on what actually works . And so if you've ever felt lost when it comes to posting on Instagram or Facebook, or you're tired of guessing what might work, I've got something that I think you are going to love.
I'm gonna share more about that in the episode. A little bit later, so stay tuned.
But for now, grab a cup of tea, cup of coffee and let's dive in.
OK, so first up, let's talk about consistency.
Now I know it sounds simple.
It may be even sounds a little bit boring compared to like the latest Instagram trends.
But I promise you, consistency is one of the most powerful tools that you have , right?
So here's why, when you show up regularly, you build trust.
People start to recognize your brand, your style, and most importantly they remember you when they need a cake.
Consistency makes you reliable in your audience's eyes and reliable businesses get the audience.
Now I get it.
Posting regularly can fill really overwhelming, especially when you've got like the bakinging to do, there's deliveries, collections, all the admin work . But consistency doesn't mean posting every single day.
It's about finding a schedule that works for you and then sticking to it, so if you are too busy to post every single day, that's absolutely fine, but you need to find a schedule that would work for you.
So is that two times a week?
Is that three times a week ? Is it just once a week?
Whatever it is, you find it and you stick to it.
Now, there's a tip to help you do this, help you post consistently.
It would be to batch, create your content.
So, spend a couple of hours each week planning and scheduling your posts.
My days is for doing that are either on Sunday or a Monday because obviously, with the weddings, Sundays and Mondays tend to be the really, really quiet date.
So that's my day to create my content for upcoming weeks.
And this way that you you're just not scrambling for ideas every single day, or when it comes to the day that you should be posting, you're not suddenly thinking, oh my God, I've got nothing to post.
I'm just gonna throw something up there and hope for the best.
You could dedicate each week to a different theme, so, like behind the scenes doing one week could be customer testimonials.
The next week, um and and so on and so on.
And another quick win would be to repurpose your contents.
So, for example, a customer review post that you posted six months ago, you can repost again because new followers won't have seen it so they won't know that you've reposted it again and likely even if you don't have new followers, they won't remember that you posted it six months ago so post it again.
There's no problem that.
But you alsoose it and post it as a story.
Post it as a real post it as a carousel along with images of the cake that they're talking about.
Saint Contin just different formats and here's a real life example for you, so I worked with a cake maker who used to post randomly, literally whenever she had time . We switched her to a consistent twice a week schedule focusing on showcasing her wedding cakes and then behind the scenes sort of tips. Within three months, her inquiries had doubled, and that was without spending a single penny on ads or anything like that.
And you may be thinking three months is a long time and yes, it is, but consistency takes time to build up.
Social media is not a very quick win and people take time to learn and trust you.
So, you know, three months may seem like a long time, but if you consistently do what you're supposed to be doing to help you build your social media strategy, those three months are gonna fly by and you will have already started getting to new orders, so keep going.
I just want you to just wanna say, like, if you wanna take anything away from this episode, let it be this consistency beats perfection every time.
OK, so just remember, consistently, choose a schedule that works for you and stick to it.
All right, now that we've covered consistency, let's move on to some of the biggest social media myths that could be holding your business back.
Okay, so myth number one, you need thousands of followers to get orders.
This one is so common.
I can't tell you how many times I've heard cake makers say they just need more followers to start getting orders, but do you know what the truth is you don't need a huge following you need the right following . It's far better to have 500 followers who are genuinely interested in your cakes than 5000 who couldn't care less.
You need to focus on attracting local followers, using location tags and engaging with people in your area.
You know, I know a cake maker who gets consistent orders with just 600 followers. And it's because they're the right followers.
Okay, so, myth number two, every post needs to be perfect.
This one stops so many of us in our tracks and it used to stop me as well.
We think that if the lighting isn't rye or if we stumble the words in a video, it's not worth posting . But perfection isn't relatable.
People connect with real, not perfect, so post it, share the thing, even if it's not perfect.
Some of my best performing posts have actually been the least polished, like a quick behind scen shop or a story where I'm just chatting about the chaos of wedding season . So if you're waiting for perfection, it's holding me back.
Just post it messy.
Show the flower on your apron, show the behind the scenes mishaps, the real moments.
That's what people love.
OK, so myth number three paid ads are the only way to grow.
Now, don't get me wrong.
Ads can be very powerful, but if you haven't nailed your organic strategy, so the nonpaid strategy ads are not gonna fix it consistent valuable content is what builds a foundation that makes ads work better when you are ready for them so before you even think about ads, focus on posting regularly. Focus on engaging with your followers and make sure your bio and your profile speak directly to your ideal customers.
Ads simplify what's already working.
They don't create the magic from thin air Now I know a lot of what we've covered today sounds simple, but that doesn't mean that it's easy, especially if you've ever stared at your phone wondering what on earth to post or you felt overwhelmed by trying to do all the things, just trying to keep up . Maybe you're tired of posting randomly.
I'm hoping for the best, or you're constantly second guessing if your captions sound right.
Or maybe the dream of having a steady stream of orders feels so far out of reach because social media just isn't working the way that you had hoped if any of that sounds like you, I just want you to know you are not alone.
That's exactly why I've created the social media blueprint.
It's it's not about the hacks or the quick fixes.
It's about simplifying your strategy so you know exactly what to post when to post and how to turn followers into paying customers without feeling like you're constantly chasing trends.
So inside the social media blueprint, I cover everything from choosing the right types of content, like stories, reels, carousels to using hashtags and simple SEO practices, even if you don't know what SEO is and this is all going to help you get seen by the right people.
There's even a full module dedicated to mindset because I know how easy it is to feel like your not good enough to show up confidently , so if you're ready to stop guessing and start pop posting with purpose, you can check out all the details through the link in the show notes.
But even if you're not ready to dive into the course, I want you to take one thing from today's episode.
Consistency, not perfection is what leads to growth.
Start small show up regularly and build up from there.
Okay, so let's do a quick recap.
Consistency is your best friend. Show up regularly, even if it's not perfect.
Let go of the myths.
You don't need thousands of followers.
Your posts don't need to be flawless, and you don't need ads to sea growth.
You can do that organically.
So I've got a little challenge for you today.
I want you to choose one tip from this episode to try it out this week, whether that is sticking to a simple posting schedule or ditching the perfectionism, just pick one and see what happens.
